- Director Still Wants Chris Brown To Star In Film Anne Lu - Celebrity News Service News Writer
Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Chris Brown's music career might be in danger after allegedly assaulting girlfriend Rihanna, but his film career is still intact. Writer/director Melvin James says the R&B star will still be starring in his film as originally planned.
He told Life & Style magazine, "Chris' current situation hasn't had any effect on things in terms of the film. We're still planning on working with him."
"We're looking to shoot around September. We got pushed back a little because of other projects."
Brown will play male lead Cali who has a love story with the title character, Caramel.
James continued, "Caramel is a modern-day version of the film American Graffiti. It's a coming-of-age story about young people, their music, their cars, and there's a love story in there."
After the Rihanna-hitting scandal last weekend, the 20-year-old "Run It!" hitmaker was dropped by his "Got Milk" and Wrigley gum ads.
